Life has certainly thrown a series of curveballs the last few years causing a step back from the norm as we knew it. When a loved one, my mother-in-law is diagnosed with a terminal illness I call "The Big C" it literally stops you in your tracks and redirects you in a direction you never saw yourself headed. Life becomes consumed with research, medical opinions and choices. You hear the words "6 months" yet you don't hear it because your brain literally goes into hyperdrive. With treatment quality is lost and possibly deadly, yet no treatment they say "6 months".

At one time not too long ago we had five beautiful kitties! Hershey (black), Mitzi (tabby on her back), Diamond (in the baby seat) and Sabrina (tortie resting on catnip). When hub and I married in 2002 I came with two and he came with two. I have always loved Maine Coon kitties and begged for years to adopt a rescue. It took time but in 2009 we welcomed our rescue Maine Coon mix Luna! She is the coolest in terms of personality. As much as she hates dogs, she behaves like a dog. Loves people, kids and even listens for the front door!
Sadly we've lost three of our fur babies over the last two years and it's been devastating. Mitzi just passed away July 1, 2015. Before that we lost Diamond and Hersey. Hershey and Mitzi were my children prior to our marrying and Diamond and Sabrina were quickly adopted as my own. Who knew how much animals grieve when they lose their friends. Luna is the youngest and most mommy like and of course still has a lot of you know what in her! Sabrina is 18 now and well and 18 year old Tortie playing with a 6 year old Maine Coon just isn't gonna happen. I'm hoping to rescue a baby for Luna to take care of and play with.... going from having a house full of fur babies to just two is quite a depressing adjustment. All five had amazing and different ways of making me smile! As I post today my Luna is sitting right by my side with that look "Mommy I'm bored". LOL With my hub and I being married 13 years this August and Halloween being our favorite holiday maybe a furry little black kitty would make the perfect gift and symbolism.... ;) |
